About Incarnate Word (5-4)
:

The Cardinals are off to a 5-4 start under coach Carson Cunningham. But only two of their wins have come against Division I competition: Dartmouth and Grambling State. They haven’t played a single road game against an opponent from a power conference. But Incarnate Word did play a road game against UNLV and lost 88-63. The Cardinals have struggled on both offense and defense, ranking below 330th nationally in both categories, per Ken Pomeroy. One thing they do well is create turnovers via steals. Jonathan Cisse leads Incarnate Word in scoring at 11.9 points per game.

About Kansas State (8-1):

The Wildcats have won back-to-back games since suffering their lone loss of the season at Butler. They have benefited from several days off since their win over Abilene Christian. That should help them against Incarnate, as both Abayomi Iyiola and Ismael Massoud have been out with minor injuries. K-State only used seven scholarship players in its last game. David N’Guessan is coming off his finest performance with the Wildcats. He will try to build off his 23 points and five rebounds in this game.

Prediction

There isn’t much to preview here. The Wildcats should be able to win this game easily.

K-State is the far superior team. In every way. It ranks 58th in Ken Pomeroy’s national ratings database this week, while Incarnate Word checks in at 355th.

The only real question is: Will K-State cover the spread? That depends on how up-tempo the game gets. The Wildcats are favored by 26, and that is a lot of points. They haven’t won a game by that margin since the opener against Texas-Rio Grande Valley.

The Wildcats will need to score a bunch in transition to win this game by 30 or more.

K-State is 6-3 against the spread this season. The Cardinals, meanwhile, are 5-2 against the spread. They were able to cover against UNLV and Valparaiso as big underdogs.

That makes me think Incarnate Word will find a way to keep this score within the number.

K-State 82, Incarnate Word 57

Last game prediction: K-State 80, Abilene Christian 65

Season record: 8-1.

Season record against the spread: 5-4.
