Kansas has run out of its supply of free home COVID-19 tests that it was sending to residents after an “overwhelming response to the initiative.”

The state health department first announced it was distributing free tests to any Kansas household in any ZIP code on Friday, Sept. 16. By Monday evening, all the free tests had been claimed.

While the Kansas health department is no longer providing free COVID-19 tests to homes through the “Project ACT” program, you can still find at-home COVID-19 tests around Kansas. Check with your local CVS, Walgreens, Walmart or Target for their availability.

Local pharmacies, like CVS and Walgreens, and area health centers also provide COVID-19 testing at their locations. Find a local health center here.

Remember, if you have health insurance, you can get reimbursed for purchasing over-the-counter COVID-19 tests. Here is more information from the federal government about how to do that.
