A Kansas man was killed in a crash over the weekend at a motorcross track in western Missouri.

At about 12:09 p.m. Sunday, first responders were told that a man riding a 2017 Yamaha Motorcycle at Midwest Extreme Park in Drexel had crashed, according to a report from Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The driver, Jody Warne, of Ottawa, Kansas, went airborne while driving on ramp 2 at the dirt park, according to the crash report. Warne was ejected from the motorcycle, which overturned.

Warne, 50, was declared dead at the scene about 30 minutes later, according to highway patrol.

The Midwest Extreme Park posted their condolences Sunday evening on Facebook.

“(Warne) was a great competitor, and one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. Jody was welcoming to all. He would bring the big rig, the big radio, and have the biggest pit party with all the accommodations,” Bill Graham, with the park, wrote. “He was truly one of a kind and will be dearly missed by the Moto Family.”

According to its website, Midwest Extreme Park, a 310-acre off-road motorcycle park complete with natural terrain, hosted the Missouri State Motorcross Championship Series on Sunday.
