Kansas basketball’s 39th annual Late Night in the Phog event will be held Friday, Oct. 6 at Allen Fieldhouse, KU’s athletic department announced Monday.

Details will be announced at a later date.

Late Night, which started at KU in 1985, features short scrimmages from KU’s men’s and women’s basketball teams. The evening typically includes video highlights of past teams and KU’s players in the NBA, as well as some skits and dances involving the men’s and women’s basketball teams.

KU men’s coach Bill Self and women’s coach Brandon Schneider also speak to the fans in attendance.

Since the 2005-06 season, Late Night has been a prime-time event at KU. In 2005, the NCAA decided to change the season-opening scrimmage time from midnight to earlier in the evening to create a more fan-friendly experience.

Late Night has started at 6:30 p.m. the past several seasons.
