If every World Cup match is a Super Bowl, as famed soccer commentator Andres Cantor says, Kansas City will have six of them in June and July 2026, including a quarterfinal.

Kansas City will also play host to four 2026 FIFA World Cup group-stage matches and a knockout-round game, and all those dates were learned Sunday afternoon in an internationally televised schedule-release show.

“Today is a huge win for Kansas City,” Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas said. “And it’s another sign of the great work we’ve done and the great work ahead.”

Kansas City’s matches, at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, will take place on June 16, 20, 25 and 27 in 2026. The knockout round game will be played on July 3.

The quarterfinal will be played July 11.

“When you think about a quarterfinal game, the television viewership, the global spotlight, it will be nothing like we’ve ever seen in Kansas City,” said Kansas City Sports Commission president Kathy Nelson.

Also revealed Sunday: The opening match of the event, in which the U.S., Mexico and Canada will share host duties, will be on June 11 in Mexico City. The championship game will be played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on July 19.

The third-place game is set for Miami, with semifinals in Dallas and Atlanta. The other quarterfinal sites are Los Angeles, Miami and Boston.

The teams that will play in Kansas City — and possible national team base camps — will be determined by qualifying matches in 2025 and 2026.

“The hard work paid off,” said KC2026 executive director Katherine Holland. “We’re going to be so ready to showcase Kansas City and our region and deliver the most incredible experience for everyone who comes here for the World Cup.”

All 11 American host cities will welcome at least six matches. Thirteen matches will be played in Canada, 13 in Mexico.

June 11-27, Group Stage: Matches will be held in Vancouver. Toronto, Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Seattle, San Francisco. Los Angeles, Houston. Dallas, Kansas City, Atlanta. Miami, Boston, Philadelphia and New York/New Jersey
