There are always buyers and sellers at the Major League Baseball trade deadline, and the Kansas City Royals most likely will be in the latter category.

The Royals already have made some moves, and other teams are said to be interested in left fielder Andrew Benintendi. The New York Post reported the Royals also are “talking ‘more seriously’ about the versatile Whit Merrifield in trade discussions than ever before,” although a right toe injury could impact those talks.

This year’s trade deadline is Aug. 2, and we’ll be updating all the deals the Royals make. Here’s what they have done so far.

July 11: The Royals acquired three minor-league players (outfielder Drew Waters, right-hander Andrew Hoffmann and infielder CJ Alexander) from the Atlanta Braves for the 35th overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft.

June 27: The Royals traded first baseman Carlos Santana and cash to the Seattle Mariners for right-hander Wyatt Mills and minor-league pitcher William Fleming.
