Kansas City Roos unable to keep up with North Dakota, lose second straight game

The Kansas City Roos were not shy about shooting the 3-ball on Saturday. In this case, they went down by that sword.

KC made 7 of 26 3-point shots and lost to North Dakota 82-69 in a Summit League game at Swinney Center.

The Roos made 1 of 10 threes in the second half when the Fighting Hawks pulled away. The two teams were tied 34-34 at the break, but North Dakota shot 54.8% from the floor in the second half and outscored Kansas City 48-35 to earn the road win.

Babacar Diallo led the Roos with 14 points. He also had seven assists, three rebounds and three steals.

Jamar Brown and Khristion Courseault each chipped in with 13 points for Kansas City, which lost its second straight game at home. The Roos are 7-12 overall and 1-3 in the Summit.

B.J. Omot was fire hot and dropped in 30 points for North Dakota. Omot made 10 of 15 shots from the field, including 4 of 5 on three-pointers, and connected on 6 of 7 free throws. Tyree Ihenacho added 30 points for the Fighting Hawks, who won their first Summit League game of the season. North Dakota is 9-10 (1-3).

Kansas City is set to take the floor again next Saturday at Omaha..

KC Roos women’s basketball at North Dakota

The Kansas City Roos women are still looking for their first win in the Summit League this season. KC also fell to North Dakota on Saturday, 76-62 in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

The Roos have lost two straight. They are 9-10 overall on the season but 0-4 in league play.

Nariyah Simmons led KC with 13 points Saturday. She also hauled in four rebounds, had five assists and two steals, but gave it away to the tune of seven turnovers. Tamia Ugass scored 11 points and pulled down ten rebounds for the Roos.

KC will be at home for its next chance to pick up that first victory in the Summit, next Saturday against Omaha.
