Kansas City area restaurant updates: New places for Mediterranean, Hawaiian, coffee
Here’s our monthly update of Kansas City area restaurant, coffee shop and brewery openings and what will be coming soon.
The metro’s first Mo’ Bettahs Hawaiian Style Food opened in Overland Park and more locations are coming. Manila Bay had a soft opening in the Crossroads and Cafe Sofrito in midtown (both were formerly Pirate’s Bone Burgers). Omo Japanese Ramen & Sushi is now open near Ward Parkway Center, and Ting’s Filipino Bistro expanded to the City Market.
But the metro lost its two Plowboys Barbeque restaurants — in Blue Springs and downtown Kansas City — as well as Pig & Finch Gastropub in Leawood.
Many new openings have been pushed back due to supply chain and staffing issues.

▪ Jet’s Pizza, Michigan-based chain planned to open Kansas City area locations. However, a spokeswoman for the company said the area “franchisees decided to go in another direction, “Hopefully we have a Jet’s Pizza open up in Kansas in the near future but this ended up falling through.”
