Named "the future of country music" by Billboard magazine, Brown rose to fame on social media by posting videos of himself covering popular country songs.

Brown's first self-titled studio album was released in 2016 and went double platinum. With its release, he became the first artist ever to lead all five of Billboard’s main country charts simultaneously and topped the Billboard Top Country Albums chart for 13 weeks. His singles "Heaven" and "What Ifs" became two of the most-streamed country songs of all time.

He was named to Time Magazine's Time100, a list of the most influential people, in 2021. In 2023, he became the first Black artist to headline and sell out Boston's Fenway Park.

He has 10 No. 1 chart-topping singles in country radio. In 2023, Brown was nominated as Entertainer of the Year by the Academy of Country Music Awards.
