Kamar de los Reyes, One Life to Live Actor, Dead at 56

Kamar de los Reyes, who was best known for playing cop Antonio Vega on the ABC daytime soap One Life to Live, has died at the age of 56.

The actor passed away on Sunday, Dec. 24, in Los Angeles after a brief battle with cancer, a publicist for de los Reyes’ wife, actress Sherri Saum, confirmed to TVLine.

The Puerto Rico-born de los Reyes joined One Life to Live in 1995 as Antonio, who was raised as the son of Carlotta Vega, but was later revealed to be the child of her brother, Manuel Santi. When Antonio was first introduced, he was in prison for murder, but eventually went on to join the Llanview Police Department upon his release after it was determined that he had been acting in self-defense.

De los Reyes left One Life to Live in 1998, before returning in 2000 and staying with the soap through 2009.

Most recently, de los Reyes had a recurring role on The CW’s All American as Coach Montes. His other TV credits include guest stints on The Rookie, The Passage and Sleepy Hollow. He also provided the voice of Nicaraguan drug lord Raul Menendez in multiple Call of Duty video games.

According to Saum’s rep, de los Reyes had shot roles for Sterling K. Brown’s upcoming Hulu drama Washington Black and has a significant part in Disney+/Marvel’s forthcoming series Daredevil: Born Again.

De los Reyes is survived by his wife, Sherri Saum; sons Caylen (26) and twins Michael and John (9); his brothers Daniel and Walfredo, Jr; his sisters Lily and Ilde; his mother Matilde and his father Walfredo.
