About Oklahoma (15-5, 3-4)

The Sooners are off to a slow start in Big 12 play, having lost four of their past six games. Oklahoma dropped a pair of home games last week to Texas and then Texas Tech, which will put added importance on its next contest at Kansas State. The Sooners are a balanced team, capable of beating opponents with both offense or defense. Porter Moser’s team ranks within the top 30 on defense and the top 75 nationally on offense.

The Sooners are elite against the 3-pointer on defense, holding teams to 29% shooting from 3. On the other side of the ball, they are best at scoring near the rim. Oklahoma shoots 56.1% from 2-point range. Javian McCollum is the team’s leading scorer.

About Kansas State (14-6, 4-3)

The Wildcats are coming off a disappointing week in which they suffered a pair of double-digit losses in road games against Iowa State and Houston. But those games results may have said more about their opponents than they did about the Wildcats.

Both the Cyclones and the Cougars are undefeated at home this season. In any case, K-State can bounce back from its losing skid when it returns home against Oklahoma. Limiting turnovers and spreading the ball around to different scorers will be important in this matchup. K-State is turning the ball over on 21.5% of its possessions, and that is simply too high to win games consistently in the Big 12.

Oklahoma at K-State score prediction

Motivation should not be a factor in this game.

Both K-State and Oklahoma badly need a win on Tuesday in order to snap a losing streak.

The Sooners are coming off a pair of home losses to Texas and Texas Tech. The Wildcats are trying to bounce back from two road losses against Iowa State and Houston. Whoever wins this game will gain valuable momentum heading into the remainder of Big 12 play. The loser will not be in a good position.

In other words, you can expect both teams to play with maximum effort in this one.

That could lead to an entertaining game between evenly matched teams. Both of these squads like to score at the rim and then smother opponents with their strong defenses.

Things like rebounds, free throws and hustle plays could end up determining the winner.

With that in mind, I think the Wildcats will have a small advantage in this game. Big 12 teams have been dynamite at home this season, and K-State is no exception. It has gone 10-1 inside Bramlage Coliseum this season. Opponents have found out it very difficult to score in Manhattan. No Big 12 foe has scored more than 66 points inside the Octagon of Doom.

The Wildcats also have one of the nation’s best free-throw shooters in Tylor Perry, which could come in handy late in a close game.

I like K-State to defend its home turf and score an important Big 12 win.
