JXN Water announces apartment complexes with massive past-due bills. See staggering totals

JXN Water announced on Friday that five different apartment complexes in Jackson have past due water balances of more than $267,000. The five complexes water balances, collectively, totaled to $1,801,000.

JXN Water spokesperson Ameerah Palacios issued the following statement Friday via email:

"In a city like Jackson that is mostly renters, multi-family properties can present challenges for turnoffs, especially for landlords that are collecting money for water bills through the rent. It's important for renters to know their rights and if their landlord is not paying their water bill, they deserve to know why. Turnoffs for commercial properties started in March," the statement reads.
