Carrie and the girls are coming back for more.
Yes, that’s right, And Just Like That… has been renewed for a third season. With the Sex and the City revival series often kick-starting social media debates over its at-times-questionable storylines, there’s no arguing that the adventures of Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York Goldenblatt still control the cultural conversation.
HBO announced the series renewal just a day before the show’s highly anticipated season-two finale, which featured a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo from Kim Cattrall’s fan-favorite character, Samantha Jones.
“We are thrilled to spend more time in the Sex and the City universe telling new stories about the lives of these relatable and aspirational characters played by these amazing actors,” show creator Michael Patrick King said in a press release. “And Just Like That… Here comes season three.”

Where did season two leave off?
The end of AJLT’s second season found Carrie saying goodbye to her beloved apartment and ready to move forward with her rekindled romance with ex-fiancé Aidan Shaw. By the episode’s end, however—after Aidan’s youngest son has gotten into a car accident in a clear cry for help—Aidan is telling Carrie he can’t be with her until his children are fully grown. He asks Carrie to “wait five years,” reassuring her that if they’ve already waited this long to be together again, the time will go by in a flash.
As for the rest of the gang, Miranda has called a truce with her two exes, Steve and Che, and Charlotte is getting back into the swing of working full time while sharing responsibilities with Harry. Seema is in love with her charming Marvel actor boyfriend (but won’t drop everything to move with him while he’s on location for work), and Nya seems to have finally met her romantic match (a very hot chef) following her divorce.
Will Kim Cattrall return again as Samantha?
Never say never … but it seems unlikely. Cattrall has hinted in previous interviews that she agreed to her cameo to mark the 25th anniversary of the series as a gift to fans, and for that reason only.
Che Diaz won't be returning either.
While MAX hasn't confirmed whether or not the controversial character portrayed by Sara Ramirez will be a part of season three, sources have shared that fans shouldn't expect to see any trace of Che by the show's return. Ramirez previously alleged on social media that they may have been written out of the series due to their vocal political stances.
When will season three air?
Due to the ongoing writers’ strike in Hollywood, season three may take a while to come to fruition. We may not see our favorite girls again until late 2024 at the very earliest.
