This Julia Child Series Is Coming to HBO Max—Here’s Your First Look

When it comes to cooking, it’s not just about being in the kitchen and whipping up recipes all day, every day. It’s also about the constant consumption of the some of the greatest cooking shows cable and streaming services can provide! You know, like the Great British Baking Show, Chopped and Top Chef. Watching someone cook delicious food is almost as satisfying as making it yourself.

One of our favorite cooking shows (and hosts!) is none other than miss Julia Child herself. And while you may think you already know everything you possibly could about the 6′ 2″ wonder, think again! HBO Max will soon be debuting a series entitled Julia following the life and times of the French chef.

Who Was Julia Child?

Many know her as the French chef who penned Mastering the Art of French Cooking, as well as the host of her cooking show The French Chef on PBS from the 1960s. Her voice is unmistakable, as is her height, but her charm is really what captivated so many audiences.

Julia Child started as a copywriter but soon enlisted in the OSS (Office of Strategic Services) during WWII. There she began cooking on-site, creating her own recipes, and later moved to Paris where she attended the Cordon Bleu school…and the rest is history!

What Can We Expect to See on Julia?

“This show’s look into her life, marriage and trailblazing career as she transformed the way we talk about food is an absolute delight,” said Head of Original Content for HBO Max, Sarah Aubrey. Julia Child was a forerunner for the TV cooking show format (as we know it), and for good reason. Actress Sarah Lancashire will star as the beloved Julia Child.

When Will It Start Streaming?

Currently, HBO Max has ordered eight episodes of the series. They are currently set to film through the spring, so we can hopefully expect the amazing new series before the end of the year (barring any unforeseen circumstances, of course).

If you’re already a subscriber to HBO Max, keep an eye on new shows hitting your stream. If you’re not…perhaps this will be the reason you finally subscribe! As long as it has enough butter because with enough butter, anything is good!
