Writer Jeffrey Toobin suspended from New Yorker after exposing himself during Zoom call: report

Years as an author, magazine writer and television legal analyst could not give Jeffrey Toobin the exposure he received in one single Zoom session.

The famed lawyer and writer has been suspended from the New Yorker after exposing himself during a video conference call, according to a report.

Toobin, who has dissected high-profile trials involving O.J. Simpson and Michael Jackson, found himself on the receiving end of scrutiny Monday after it was revealed that during a video call between staffers at the New Yorker and WNYC radio, the prolific writer allegedly showed his penis, according to VICE.

The website said Toobin was masturbating during the call.

The New Yorker said the incident is under investigation.

“I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera,” Toobin, 60, said in a statement to VICE. “I apologize to my wife, family, friends and co-workers.”

“I believed I was not visible on Zoom. I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video,” he added.

Toobin is also a legal analyst at CNN.

“Jeff Toobin has asked for some time off while he deals with a personal issue, which we have granted,” a CNN representative said in a statement.

Toobin’s Conde Nast email has been disabled and he has not tweeted since Oct. 13.

Toobin’s down-under blunder was red meat for social media, where Toobin’s tumble received the type of attention usually reserved for slow-speed car chases.

Toobin is the author of nine books, including his latest entitled, “True Crimes and Misdemeanors: The Investigation of Donald Trump.”
