Jon Stewart joins forces with Comedy Central to return to podcasting

It makes sense it will be called "The Weekly Show."

Jon Stewart, who recently returned to "The Daily Show" on Mondays, is joining another medium through Comedy Central.

The comedian, who owns a sanctuary for abused and neglected animals in Colts Neck, will host a weekly podcast for the network, it was announced this week.

The show will be produced by Paramount Audio in association with Busboy Productions and you'll be able to hear it across all places you get your podcasts.

“After much reflection, meditation, and prayer, I have decided to extend my work week to two days,” Stewart said in a statement. “All hail Comedy Central!”

It's a great gig for Stewart, who saw his last podcast with Apple TV+ get canceled. At Comedy Central, he'll bring his brand of podcast to the same network he's enjoyed success through television.

“Jon’s return to The Daily Show has been a runaway success — a powerful reminder of why he’s the voice of our generation and so critical to the national conversation,” Chris McCarthy, president/CEO of Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios said in a news release. “This new podcast enables Jon to delve even deeper into complex issues and make sense of it for all of us through his razor-sharp wit and indelible humor.”

The podcast is expected to launch early next month.
