Jon Gosselin Says He Would 'Without a Doubt' Propose to New Girlfriend Within a Year (Exclusive)

The 'Jon & Kate Plus 8' alum also tells PEOPLE that he and his girlfriend have no plans to welcome any more children

Jon Gosselin may be hearing wedding bells in the near future!

In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE at a celebration for Beverly Hills Rejuvenation in West Hollywood on Thursday, April 25, the Jon & Kate Plus 8 alum, 47, revealed that he planned to pop the question to his girlfriend within a year.

"I'm with my girl, she really supports me," he says, explaining how his partner has been there for his career milestones. "But she doesn't really want to be in the public eye so she doesn't come to red carpet events and those kinds of things."

"It's different," Gosselin notes of her desire for privacy. "She understands my career and where I want to be, and she just wants to just be with me and have her career as well."

When asked if he believed the couple would go a distance, the former reality star says that she is "the one" and he plans to "without a doubt" propose in the year.

Though Gosselin plans on getting married again, he revealed that the pair had no intentions of having more children. In fact, the two have both undergone medical procedures to ensure there would be no babies on the horizon.

"We're both fixed so it's not happening," he explains. "I'm not getting a reversal. It was annoying enough to get it fixed so I'm not going to go down that road. I'm 47. She's 36. We just want to enjoy life."

Gosselin also shares that his partner has a 14-year-old daughter who lives with them and opens up about how "nice" it's been to learn how to be a parent to only one child. He also adds how "cool" it's been to see his children Colin and Hannah "be the big brother and big sister because they never had that."

Prior to his potential nuptials, Gosselin was last linked to Colleen Conrad. The two met while growing up in Pennsylvania, but their relationship didn't begin until 2014. In 2020, things got rocky for the pair as Gosselin was hospitalized for 11 days while battling COVID-19 and subsequently didn't work for 47 days, while Conrad was diagnosed with breast cancer. The health issues ultimately put a strain on their relationship, and Gosselin confirmed they had called it quits by August 2021.

Gosselin was also previously married to Kate Gosselin, with whom he shares sextuplets: Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel as well as twins, Mady and Cara. Following their 2009 separation, the former couple became embroiled in a messy divorce and custody battle. Hannah and her brother Collin currently live with Jon, but the other four sextuplets — Leah, Joel, Alexis and Aaden — live with Kate.

In an episode of Vice TV's 2023 series titled Dark Side of the 2000s, Jon opened up about being estranged from most of his children with his ex-wife.

"I have no access to the kids I'm estranged from," he admitted at the time. "I have no idea why they stopped coming. I have no answers. Like, none. It's the worst."

"I'd rather it be like, 'You're an asshole,' or, you know, 'I hate you, and you did this to mom,' or something," he continued. "I have nothing. It's like I have no closure."
