Johnson County pizza place closes after 5 years. It wants to reopen somewhere else

Pizza Shuttle

Overland Park’s Pizza Shuttle is closed. For now.

The restaurant recently announced it was leaving its 12094 W. 135th St. location on Facebook.

“Unfortunately, our lease is up and we haven’t found a new home yet,” the post reads. “We want to ensure we find and build a long-term home that can serve the Overland Park community for many years to come!”

But Lou Richter, manager of Pizza Shuttle’s Crossroads location, has good news for fans. Asked if Pizza Shuttle would reopen in Johnson County, Richter said, “Emphatically yes.”

Exactly when and where have yet to be announced, but Richter said the restaurant is eyeing a spot near 75th Street and Metcalf Avenue.

Richter said updates would be posted to Pizza Shuttle’s social media pages.

For now, customers can visit Pizza Shuttle’s 1801 Baltimore Ave. spot, or its original location in Lawrence at 711 W. 23rd St., No. 19.

The restaurant first opened in Lawrence in 1984. Traci and Ryan Wright purchased it in 2019 and opened the Overland Park spot. The Crossroads location followed two years later.

Pizza Shuttle’s offerings include Amy’s CBR — a ranch dressing-based pizza with bacon, chicken and mozzarella — as well as the Super Shuttle, with pepperoni, ground beef, sausage, onions, olives and extra cheese.
