Actress Kirstie Alley died yesterday at the age of 71, following a recent cancer diagnosis, and now, her friends and loved ones are mourning her death.

John Travolta, who starred in the Look Who's Talking movies with Alley—where they played a couple going through life's ups and downs, and raising a family—shared a loving tribute to her last night on Instagram.

"Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I've ever had," he wrote next to two throwback photos—one of the actress alone and one of them laughing together. "I love you Kirstie. I know we will see each other again."

Alley's two children announced her passing this Monday via a statement posted on Instagram.

Travolta and Alley's onscreen relationship lasted from 1989 to 1993, when the first and last movies of the series were released, respectively. And though in real life, they never got together, Alley long called the actor the true love of her life.

She told Howard Stern in 2013 that she never felt about anyone the way she felt about Travolta, and said that he felt the same about her, yet neither of them acted on those feelings.

"It took me years to not look at John as a romantic interest," Alley said at the time, adding that he was "the greatest love of my life."

And even as recently as 2018, while on Celebrity Big Brother U.K., Alley said of Travolta, "I did love him; I still love him." She added, "If I hadn't been married, I would've gone and married him."

She also said on the Dan Wootton Interview podcast that year that not sleeping with Travolta while they filmed the romantic comedies was "one of the hardest things I've ever done."

"[It was] the hardest decision I've ever made because I was madly in love with him—we were fun and funny together," she said. "It wasn't a sexual relationship because I'm not going to cheat on my husband."

Alley was married to her high-school sweetheart, Bob Alley, from 1970 to 1977. Then, from 1983 to 1997, she was married to actor Parker Stevenson. Travolta, meanwhile, married actress Kelly Preston in 1991. She died in 2020 after a battle with breast cancer.

Travolta's beloved Grease co-star, Olivia Newton-John, also passed away from breast cancer this August.
