As My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 gets ready to hit the box office on September 8, a lot has changed since the first film in the franchise debuted in 2002. Well, John Corbett (who portrays Ian Miller) is opening up about one of the biggest switch-ups this time around.

When speaking to Entertainment Tonight in an article published in August, the Sex and the City alum opened up about working with co-star Nia Vardalos (who plays his wife Fotoula "Toula" Portokalos) in a new way as Nia served as director for the latest installment. Naturally, John had nothing but praise for her new role in the movie.

"[Nia's] telling the cameraman what to do, and the guy with the sound, and us actors, and she's acting also, so it's a 10-ring circus — not a three-ring circus," he told the outlet. "I haven't seen her get close to cracking... I don't know how she does that. I don't know how she doesn't go berserk, but she's really good at it."

Nia's direction in the My Big Fat Greek Wedding universe isn't the only change viewers will experience upon viewing.

The third film's premise follows the Portokalos family as they venture to Greece for a family reunion after Toula's father Gus (Michael Constantine) dies. The movie mirrors real life, as Michael died in 2021 at the age of 94 from natural causes.

As far as how Nia felt about taking the reins for My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 (she also wrote the movie's script), she was thrilled to be directing her cast mates this time around. What's more, she shared with Newsweek how easy it was for her to work with John in this novel setting.

"He is casual and easygoing," she praised to the publication ahead of the SAG-AFTRA strike. "Every delivery of his seems like he just thought of that line at that very moment. He's a writer's dream. As an actor, he's a co-star's dream because he is very present in the scene... But that's his gift. He is so present in the scene."

We're glad to know the feelings are mutual, and we are ecstatic to see this movie when it finally drops in theaters!
