John Boyega has revealed his favourite of his three Star Wars movies — and some fans might be surprised.

Speaking to First We Feast (before the SAG-AFTRA strike) Boyega was asked to rank his three Star Wars films from best to worst while playing 'Truth Or Dab: Rapid Fire'.

Boyega reacted enthusiastically to the question, saying: "Hell yeah, I’ll do it," before revealing his order.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens is most definitely the best," he said. "Second for me comes Star Wars 9, and then the worst, in the most respectful sense, is Episode VIII for me. But they’re all lovely."

Earlier this week Boyega, who played Finn in the trilogy, said he'd be open to returning to the franchise.

Speaking to TechRadar, Boyega said: "I'm open to all characters and scripts that are enjoyable, have a great cast attached, and a terrific director. So yeah, I'm open to all opportunities."

In 2020, Boyega criticised how his character Finn was handled in the trilogy's third movie, after fans complained his character had become increasingly sidelined as the films progressed.

"It's so difficult to manoeuvre," he told GQ. "You get yourself involved in projects and you're not necessarily going to like everything.

"[But] what I would say to Disney is do not bring out a Black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are and then have them pushed to the side. It's not good. I'll say it straight up."

Boyega went on to compare the difference in how his character was treated compared with the franchise's other leads, saying: "They gave all the nuance to Adam Driver, all the nuance to Daisy Ridley.

"Let's be honest. Daisy knows this. Adam knows this. Everybody knows. I'm not exposing anything."

Boyega currently stars in Netflix film They Cloned Tyrone which has a 100% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes and got a four-star review from Digital Spy.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+.
