Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons appears to determined to never play for the team again. Naturally, his teammate Joel Embiid has some thoughts on the ongoing issues between the two sides.

In a recent interview, Embiid said that he’s disappointed that Simmons isn’t with the team for training. Embiid says he knows that he and Simmons can win together and hopes he changes his mind down the road.

“He knows we can win together. I hope he changes his mind. I love playing with him. They have been building around us,” Embiid said. “We know it’s working. It’s all about taking the next step.”

Simmons has reportedly rejected all of the 76ers’ efforts to mend the relationship. He appears completely committed to holding out until he gets released or traded.

Ben Simmons was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. After not playing as a rookie, he quickly emerged as an elite point guard in 2017, and has made three straight All-Star appearances.

But his relationship with Joel Embiid has reportedly been testy at times. Though his issues playing with Embiid pale in comparison to his issues in the playoffs.

Simmons had one of the worst postseasons from the free throw line in recent memory. And it cost the 76ers dearly in the playoffs.

Despite rumblings that a divorce was imminent in the offseason, the 76ers stood pat. But ahead of the NBA season in a few weeks, that may not have been the wisest move.

Will Ben Simmons return to the 76ers and reunite with Joel Embiid, or is he done with the team for good?
