Joanna Gaines Sets the Record Straight about Several 'Fixer Upper' Scams on the Internet

It seems like every time we open up the internet or a social media app, we're faced with a scam or a fake news story about a favorite celebrity. Some are obviously not true, but others can be pretty convincing. Fixer Upper star Joanna Gaines is speaking out to clear the air about some recent reports about her and her husband, Chip. Spoiler alert: None of them are true.

Joanna took to her Instagram story to warn fans about some misinformation and to ask for their help in reporting the fake accounts. She started with a message that said, "A few scams out there that aren't us... (Please report if you see these.)"

First, she shared a fake article claiming that Chip and SpaceX and Tesla founder Elon Musk have created an "electricity saving invention." Joanna noted she and Chip are "NOT SELLING ENERGY WITH ELON." Another photo shows a heavily edited photo of Joanna with Elon, both holding miniature heaters. Joanna wrote, "I like mini things but NOT selling mini heaters. (My skin looks great though.)"

In other (fake) news, an Instagram account posing as Joanna Gaines and using her photo claims to be giving away free cookware. Joanna explains, "NOT GIVING AWAY FREE LE CREUSETS WITH CHIP."

Finally, Joanna showed a news article about "Chip's Major Shake Up" that says "Things heat up with new partner!" Joanna drew a big red X on the article and said, "CHIP IS NOT HEATING THINGS UP WITH A NEW PARTNER."

Thanks to Joanna for this important reminder: Be careful what you click on! If the information isn't from Chip or Joanna's verified accounts, it might be a scam.
