Jimmy Carr has been in a relationship with his girlfriend, Karoline Copping, since the early 2000s.

The comedian and TV presenter first found success in his home country, the United Kingdom, then global popularity from stand-up specials on Netflix, including April 2024's Natural Born Killer. All along the way, he’s had the support of his girlfriend.

Copping works in TV herself, as a commissioning editor. The pair met during one of Carr's auditions, but they didn’t exactly hit it off at first.

However, after running into each other again, and Carr asking her out on a date, the couple started a relationship. Almost two decades later, in 2019, Carr and Copping welcomed a son named Rockefeller.

So who is Jimmy Carr’s girlfriend? Here’s everything to know about Karoline Copping and her relationship with the comedian.

Like Carr, Copping works in TV, albeit behind the camera. She’s a commissioning editor for the British public broadcast Channel 5, and her work is how she met her boyfriend. Copping also worked for Channel 4 but left in 2013, per Broadcast.

Beyond the audition where the couple first met, Copping has collaborated with Carr on some of his projects. She was credited with thanks on his 2004 special Jimmy Carr Live and as a dedicatee on 2008's Jimmy Carr: In Concert.

Copping, who was born in Canada, began dating Carr around 2001. He told The Guardian in March 2008 that he’d been in a “very committed relationship” for nearly seven years, and said that they met at an audition.

Carr was very interested in her when they first met but Copping wasn’t overly impressed with him. The Rose d'Or winner said, “I went away from the meeting and called my manager and said, 'I can't work for that company because that girl is too attractive and I couldn't concentrate on saying something funny.' "

He continued, "She went away and wrote a note saying, 'He's got one joke, he's very misogynistic and he's rubbish.' Then I saw her at a gig and I asked her out.”

While the couple have been together since around 2001, they aren’t married. Carr explained, “People ask why we're not married but it's just not something that I'd like to talk about. Karoline is a wonderful girl and it upsets her and I'm not prepared to do it.”

Copping and Carr have a son, Rockefeller, who was born in 2019. Two years later, Carr spoke about him publicly for the first time.

On the podcast Parenting Hell, hosted by comedians Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe, Carr said that Copping had to have an emergency C-section. He described it as a “terrifying morning,” but said, “We were very well taken care of, it was great."

Carr also opened up about why they hadn't shared about Rockefeller earlier. "We just wanted a bit of time to adjust to it ourselves," he said. "I like who I am when I’m with him. I like being fully engaged."
