Juli Boeheim, the wife of Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim, was involved in a life-threatening situation earlier this week.

According to reports, Juli was robbed at gunpoint while attending a New York shopping mall on Tuesday afternoon. Luckily, she wasn’t harmed.

Juli was reportedly approached by a male youth while she was sitting in her vehicle. After a brief discussion, the male youth pointed a gun at her before grabbing Juli’s purse and fleeing the scene.

Jim spoke about his wife’s unspeakable experience during a recent radio interview.

“I mean, this isn’t television. It’s not movies. It’s real life. Somebody puts a gun in your face. She’s handling it well, better than I probably would or most people, I think. But it’s not easy. She’s a little shook but I think she’s doing much better than could be expected,” Boeheim told ESPN Syracuse, via Fox News.

“I think the thing that helped her was it was a kid. If it was an older man it probably would have. … Her main thought was, ‘let’s help this kid.’ That’s what she does, we do with our foundation. Try to help these kids. That was the first thing she said, ‘I feel like I want to help this kid.’ But that’s the way she thinks. That’s who she is. She tries to help people.”

We’re just glad Juli’s okay. And it’s remarkable that she wants to help the kid after he robbed her at gunpoint.

Jim and the Syracuse Orange wrap up the regular season this Saturday vs. Miami.
