Halloween is officially behind us now which means many people are already looking at Christmas.

There are a few events this weekend which can help get you in the holiday spirit as well as get a head start on some Christmas shopping.

Here's 21 things to do in the Rockford area this weekend.

Jesus Christ Superstar (Touring)

What: Jesus Christ Superstar is an iconic musical. In celebration of its 50th anniversary, a new production is touring. The production pays tribute to the historic 1971 Billboard Album of the Year. The show features award-winning music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. Jesus Christ Superstar is set against the backdrop of the series of events during the final weeks in the life of Jesus Christ as seen through the eyes of Judas.

Rock-Con 50 Game Convention

What: Rock-Con features historical and fantasy miniature gaming, board games, role-playing games, sci-fi and fantasy games and other events that cover the entire spectrum of tabletop gaming. Silent auction is Saturday. Prizes given throughout the weekends.

When: Noon to 11:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3; 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4; 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5

The Lifespan of a Fact

What: Jim (Ian Garthwaite) is fresh out of Harvard and working as a fact checker for a prestigious magazine. John (David A. Gingerich) is an acclaimed writer of a brilliant essay. When Jim fact checks John’s essay, the two men butt heads in a comic, yet gripping battle over facts vs. truth, with Emily (Ricki G. Ravitts), the beleaguered editor of the magazine, caught squarely in the middle of their war.

Noche de las Calaveras Adult Event

What: The Rockford Park District’s Nicholas Conservatory invites adults ages 21 and older for a new adult celebration of Día de los Muertos. The Noche de las Calaveras (Night of the Skulls) event will take place the night before the facility’s annual Día de los Muertos family event, with festivities including music and a cash bar from Veedubs. The Conservatory will be decorated for the holiday. Food trucks from La Calle and Las Nenas will also be on hand. Catrina and Catrin costumes and face painting are encouraged.

Christmas at the Farm 2023

What: Enjoy holiday shopping with a mix of vintage decor and seasonal gifts. There will be a heated building and two heated tents filled with more than 35 vendors with booths full of vintage Christmas, florals, new and vintage jewelry, candles, soaps, Irish candy, painted furniture, home decor, ornaments, holiday greens and garland, hip clothing and more.

The Ubiquitous Accordion

Veterans Drop-In Center 5k Run and Walk

What: This fundraising event for the center draws more than 700 participants to a USATF certified 5K course, circuit-scored run for the Rockford Roadrunners. 82nd Annual Veterans Dinner

What: This year’s keynote speaker will be Ericka E. Kelly, Command Chief Master Sergeant US Air Force-Retired, who represented the highest enlisted executive level of leadership in the military. She advised the Commander on all issues regarding the readiness, training, welfare, morale and proper utilization and progress of more than 74,000 civilians/enlisted/officer active duty and reserve citizen airmen serving at more than 60 military bases worldwide.

Bringing Country to the Rockford Theater

What: This fundraiser for SheVets, Remedies and Rock River Pantry features back country roads and opener Johnnie Miller of Chicago. $1 per ticket will be donated to SheVets. 7th Annual MomStrong Momma Market

What: This event is an outreach event for the MomStrong ministry and a benefit for The Pregnancy Care Center of Rockford. "Momma Market" means that all of the vendors are local business-owning moms. The booths will not all be mom/parenting related, however, and you don't need to be a mom to shop. In addition to vendor booths, there will be a silent auction benefitting the Pregnancy Care Center.

Concerts on the Creek Series

What: Family-friendly music encompassing the bluegrass style and more will be featured at the Nov. 5 concert. Grass Attack is a four-piece band of musicians from southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois who play everything from country to newgrass, with a sprinkling of folk and bluegrass. Attendance will be limited to 150.

Hispanic Veteran Celebration

What: The Ethnic Heritage Museum is celebrating and honoring local Hispanic Veterans. This year's honorees are members of the Cardenas Family. The Cardenas family band started when they were teenagers in Uvalde, Texas. Upon moving to Rockford in 1963, they played music as El Conjunto Cardenas in Rockford and surrounding communities. After they were all inducted into military service, the band didn't play again until 1969. Light refreshments will be served.

Smashing Pumpkins

What: Send your jack-o-lanterns flying through the air with a giant trebuchet, a counterweight catapult used in medieval times, or surrender it for target practice. Create your own miniature catapult and celebrate with autumn crafts. At the end, pumpkin pieces are collected and fed to local livestock.

When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5
