This Jessica Chastain Movie Just Hit Netflix’s Top 10 List

Gird your streaming queues, because this old Jessica Chastain movie is making a comeback on Netflix.

Introducing Crimson Peak. While it originally premiered in 2015, it recently claimed a spot on the streamer’s list of most-watched movies. (It’s currently ranked at number seven behind Synchronic, Thunder Force, Why Did You Kill Me? and The Little Rascals.)

Crimson Peak tells the story of Edith (Mia Wasikowska), a young woman who moves to a gothic mansion after marrying the ever-so-charming Sir Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston). Although she can communicate with the dead, Edith must learn to live alongside her new husband’s sister, Lady Lucille (Chastain), who knows all the family’s dark secrets.

The movie is described as a “ghost story and gothic romance,” drawing inspiration from classic horror films like The Haunting, The Innocents and The Shining.

In addition to Wasikowska, Hiddleston and Chastain, Crimson Peak also stars Sofia Wells (young Edith), Charlie Hunnam (Dr. Alan McMichael), Jim Beaver (Carter Cushing), Burn Gorman (Holly), Leslie Hope (Mrs. McMichael), Jonathan Hyde (Ogilvie), Emily Coutts (Eunice), Doug Jones (the ghosts of Edith's mother and Lady Sharpe) and Javier Botet (the ghosts of Enola Sciotti, Margaret McDermott and Pamela Upton).

The film was written, directed and produced by Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water). Matthew Robbins (Mimic) co-wrote the script, while Callum Greene (Pacific Rim), Jon Jashni (Godzilla vs. King) and Thomas Tull (Inception) also served as executive producers.
