Free-agent former Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jesse Winker agreed to a minor-league deal with the Washington Nationals, according to a report Monday evening via Twitter from Washington Post's Andrew Golden.

Golden added that the deal includes an invitation to spring training.

The left-handed batter hit .199 with one homer in 197 plate appearances last season for the Milwaukee Brewers.

Winker, a first-round draft pick of the Reds in 2012, hit .305 with 24 homers and 71 RBIs in 2021, and was named an All-Star.

He played for Cincinnati from 2017 until he was traded in March 2022 with Eugenio Suarez to Seattle for a player to be named later (Connor Phillips), Brandon Williamson, Justin Dunn and Jake Fraley.

Winker and the Seattle Mariners agreed in 2022 to a two-year, $14.5 million deal, but Seattle traded Winker in December after he hit .219 in 547 plate appearances for the Mariners.

When Winker was hit by a pitch against the Los Angeles Angels in 2022, it sparked a benches-clearing brawl, and the former Red made an obscene gesture toward the crowd in Anaheim.
