Tom Brady tossed his 600th career touchdown pass over the weekend in a 38-3 blowout win over the Chicago Bears. However, there was a bit of a snafu with the ball that he threw to reach the remarkable milestone.

Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans, who caught the touchdown pass, gave the ball away to someone sitting in the stands. After some negotiation, a Tampa Bay staffer was able to get the historic football back for Brady, leaving the fan empty-handed.

Thankfully, the fan, Byron Kennedy, will receive quite the package from the Buccaneers for giving the ball back. Here’s what Kennedy is getting in return, according to Darren Rovell of The Action Network:

  • Two signed Tom Brady jerseys

  • A signed Tom Brady helmet

  • A signed Mike Evans jersey

  • Mike Evans’ cleats from the game

  • A $1,000 Bucs team store credit

  • Two season tickets for the remainder of the 2021 season

  • Two season tickets for the 2022 season

Kennedy will leave the exchange with some exciting memorabilia, but given that the ball is expected to be worth at least half a million dollars, it feels like he should’ve gotten more.

Over the last few days, NFL fans everywhere have discussed what they would’ve done if they were in Kennedy’s situation. Even Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones weighed in on the unique situation on Tuesday morning.

Jones explained that he would’ve negotiated hard, while holding onto the football, to get the best deal possible.

“I’d be hard to trade with,” Jones said Tuesday, per Jon Machota. “I’d explain to everybody that that’s like asking for my baby. Then I’d tear-up for him a little bit (thinking) about how I’m gonna have that when I’m 90. And then after all that, then I’d take offers.”

Jones certainly seems to have the right idea of things, but unfortunately he can’t go back and give Kennedy advice. The Buccaneers fan will just have to be content with what he received from the team earlier this week.
