During his first season as the Kansas State men’s basketball coach, Jerome Tang will get his feet wet by leading the Wildcats against a nonconference schedule that features eight home games and a few intriguing matchups that will be played away from Bramlage Coliseum.

K-State unveiled the early portion of its schedule for the 2022-23 season on Monday. The Big 12 will release its full conference schedule later this summer.

The opponents and tournaments on K-State’s nonconference slate were already known, but fans can now begin marking their calendars for the start of the Tang era.

The Wildcats will open the season on Nov. 7 against Texas-Rio Grande Valley and play their final game outside of the Big 12 on Jan. 28 against Florida in the Big 12/SEC Challenge.

K-State will play a handful of marquee nonconference games next season. Those include a trip to California on Nov. 11, a neutral-court matchup with Nebraska on Dec. 17 inside T-Mobile Center and a home game against Wichita State on Dec. 3. The Wildcats will also play at Butler on Nov. 30 and Florida in January.

A trip to the Cayman Islands Classic for a three-game tournament during Thanksgiving week will also provide an early test for the Wildcats.

But it won’t be all challenging. K-State will be heavily favored at home against opponents like Kansas City, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Abilene Christian, Incarnate Word and Radford.
