Jeopardy! fans celebrated an exciting game for the Jan. 8 episode of the popular game show, with the winner coming down to a close Final Jeopardy match.

In the new episode, which is part of the Second Chance Tournament starting off 2024, Randall RayfordMichael Cavaliere and Matt Harvey competed for the top spot.

Going into the second round of questions, Harvey was ahead, but Cavaliere managed to turn it around with a true Daily Double win. Going into Final Jeopardy, the score was $29,200 for Cavaliere, $18,800 for Harvey and $3,000 for Rayford.

The Final Jeopardy category was State Capitals, with the question, “The 2 closest state capitals, at about 40 miles apart; one was founded by someone no longer allowed in the other.” The answer was "What are Boston and Providence?"

In the end, the only one to get the Final Jeopardy question right was Harvey. Betting all of his winnings, he won the game and went home with $37,600 total. Meanwhile, Cavaliere only bet $12,000, leaving him with a final score of $17,200, while Rayford bet it all, ending the game with $0.

Fans took to the internet to discuss the exciting episode of Jeopardy! One hyped viewer wrote on a Reddit thread about the Jan. 8 episode, "A nail-biter till the very end," before commenting about the Final Jeopardy round, "Matt obviously had a huge leg-up in FJ since he is from Providence."

Another wrote, "Didn't want either of those two to lose but wow what a fun game," likely referring to Harvey and Cavaliere.

The praise continued, with a different popular comment seemingly from Harvey reading, "Just to say, wow, what a tense game. Michael and Randall are really tough competitors, but I had a good day. Truly an honor."

"All three of these players are superchamp material," someone else proclaimed of the contestants.

Because of Harvey's great performance on Jeopardy! recently, he will be competing in the Champions Wildcard Tournament, which could land him a chance at the 2024 Tournament of Champions.
