Jennie Garth is opening up about her daughters' relationship with her husband Dave Abrams.

On the Wednesday, May 8, episode of her podcast I Choose Me with Jennie Garth, the actress, 52, spoke with her husband Abrams, 42, about how she welcomed him into her family after the two tied the knot in 2015.

Garth, who shares her daughters Luca, 26, Lola, 21, and Fiona, 17, with ex Peter Facinelli, says that her husband Abrams didn't immediately move in after they got married.

"No, we waited," Abrams says about moving in. "When the kids were home, I slept in the guest room."

"It feels like it was, literally like warp speed. I went from that to stepdad," he recalls.

Noting that the two could discuss the topic further in another episode, Garth says, "But I think because we did fast-track everything, there was a lot of learning and growing on both our parts, but mostly your part."

"I mean in like, having a family and having all these responsibilities put upon you and having to model for the kids a certain behavior," she continues. "And just you and I getting on the same page about parenting."

While speaking with PEOPLE in April about the launch of her iHeart podcast, the 90210 alum reflected on how her daughters have all entered into a new stage of life.

"Oh my gosh, the truest thing has never been said, 'They grow up so fast,' " Garth told PEOPLE.

"I never believed that when people were saying it about me, but when I'm saying it about my daughters, it's terrifying because their world is moving at lightning speed, and there's just so much access to everything now that you really have to...just put in the time and the work," she said.

"That meant to be a mom committing a hundred percent to raising my daughters and being there for them all the time when they needed me, when they didn't need me, when they didn't want me, and sticking through with that."
