Jenna Bush Hager shares how she 'raced' to go to meet sister Barbara's new baby

TODAY's Jenna Bush Hager shared the story of how she got to meet twin sister Barbara Bush's newest addition to her family.

Barbara Bush gave birth to her second child on Aug. 4, a baby boy named Edward Finn Coyne. On the Aug. 13 episode of TODAY With Hoda & Jenna, Jenna explained how she felt being far away from her sister during the delivery.

“I think anybody that has a good friend or a sibling, definitely a twin, there’s something almost like evolutionary or hormonal,” Jenna told TODAY’s Hoda Kotb. “I was away from her. I was in Colorado at a wedding, and I kept getting texts, and I would keep calling — ‘What’s happening? How’s it going?’ I mean they were like, ‘Please, stop.’”

Once she got home from the wedding, Jenna said she “raced straight to the hospital.”

“I brought her breakfast and coffee and got to see that baby,” Jenna added.

Hoda couldn’t contain herself while seeing photos of the newborn, and asked how Jenna’s twin sister was doing.

“She’s good. It was not an easy delivery, but she’s so happy that she has this little family,” Jenna said. “She has two kids.”

Jenna then tried to quote one of Hoda’s many expressions, but failed to come up with the exact one she was thinking of. Hoda helped her out with a new one, choosing: “Right on time.”

Jenna revealed the news of little Edward's birth on Instagram on Aug. 5, posting several photos with the baby and her sister.

“My sissy had a little mister and I fell madly in love with Edward Finn!” Jenna captioned her post.

Jenna and Barbara's father, former president George W. Bush, also shared the news in an Instagram post on Aug. 5.

“Welcome to the world, Edward Finn Coyne. @laurawbush and I are proud grandparents of our newest blessing, born on August 4 and lovingly named in honor of his great-grandfathers. Congratulations to Barbara, Craig, and big sister Cora Georgia,” he said.

Barbara Bush is also mom to Cora, who was born in September 2021. She shares both children with her husband, Craig Coyne.

Jenna is a mom of three with her husband Henry Hager: Mila, 11, Poppy, 9, and Hal, 5. Poppy just celebrated her birthday on Aug. 13, along with Savannah Guthrie's daughter Vale, who turned 10.
