Jeff Klein named Columbia Public Schools chief academic officer for 2024-25 school year

Jeff Klein is the new chief academic officer for Columbia Public Schools, starting in the 2024-25 school year.

Klein will take over for current Chief Academic Officer De’Vion Moore, who announced his departure earlier this school year.

Klein has nearly two decades of experience in district-level leadership. He has served as the assistant superintendent for academic services and the executive director of research, evaluation and assessment in the Park Hill School District in Kansas City.

Kline began his career as a special education teacher and school psychologist.He holds a doctorate in education from the University of California-Santa Barbara. He also earned a master’s degree in business, an educational specialist degree in education administration, and a master’s degree in school psychology.

“Dr. Klein comes to CPS with expertise in curriculum and instruction, measurement systems, educational psychology, process improvement, and strategic planning,” said Superintendent Brian Yearwood in a news release. “We are excited to welcome him to the CPS family and to working together to advance the academic achievement of our scholars.”
