JC roundup: Renegades to play in Patriotic Bowl at East LA College on Nov. 25

Nov. 17—The Bakersfield College football team will participate in a postseason game for the first time in five seasons.

The Renegades, who won their final two games of the regular season to finish 6-4, will travel to East L.A. College to play in the Patriotic Bowl on Saturday, Nov. 25. Kick-off is slated for 2 p.m.

Cross country

The Renegades men's squad will continue their amazing season when they compete in the CCCAA championships on Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno.

BC placed third at the Southern California Regionals after winning its first conference championship in 30 years, capturing the Western State Conference title on Oct. 20.

East High graduate Nathanael Rodriguez, who placed first at the WSC finals, leads a deep Renegades' squad into the finals. At the conference meet, Bakersfield placed five runners in the top 7. Jacob Perez was second, with Jaden Hart, Abraham Castro and Atzin Anguiano finishing fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively. Ismael Nungaray was 13th, followed by 14th-place Jacob Nungaray.

Rodriguez was seventh at the regionals, with Perez and Castro also finishing in the top-20 at 18th and 19th, respectively at El Dorado East Regional Park in Long Beach.

Volleyball

BC (16-6), the Western State Conference co-champions, were given the No. 15 seed for the Southern California Regional playoffs and will host No. 18 Cerritos on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Taft College (18-12) received the No. 12 seed for the Northern California Regionals playoffs and open play on Tuesday at 6 p.m. against the winner of No. 13 Consumnes River and No. 18 Los Medanos.

Basketball

Bakersfield College's women's basketball game against Taft College has been moved from 6 p.m. to 1 p.m. to accommodate BC's volleyball playoff game.
