Jaxson Dart injury: Lane Kiffin updates Ole Miss football quarterback's status

ATHENS, Ga. — Ole Miss football quarterback Jaxson Dart could have returned to Saturday's game against Georgia, Rebels coach Lane Kiffin said.

Dart left the contest in the third quarter with what the ESPN broadcast reported to be a collarbone injury. He briefly entered the injury tent on the Ole Miss sideline before jogging down the tunnel toward the locker room.

He did not return thereafter in a lopsided 52-17 Ole Miss loss to the Bulldogs (10-0, 7-0 SEC), with backup Spencer Sanders replacing him.

"He was able to return after getting checked out," Kiffin said. "Just didn't see a need at that point (for him) to come back in."

The contest was already out of hand when Dart left the game, taking a hard hit from two Georgia players when scrambling near the Ole Miss sideline.

Dart finished 10-for-17 passing for 112 yards and an interception.

The Rebels (8-2, 5-2) return home to take on Louisiana-Monroe (2-7) on Nov. 18 (11 a.m., SEC Network).
