Before Saturday’s kickoff against Baylor Jared Wiley and other Horned Frogs seniors were honored on Senior Day for their contributions to TCU and the Temple, Texas, native saved his best game for his last in TCU’s 42-17 win over Baylor on Saturday at Amon G. Carter Stadium.

Wiley set career highs in yards (178), catches (7) and touchdowns (2) as he more than doubled his previous yardage high. Wiley’s 178 yards set a TCU record for receiving yards in a game by a tight end.

“Today’s the type of game that I’ve known for five years that I can have,” said Wiley “I can’t thank Coach [Ken] Briles and Josh [Hoover] and everybody’s that been part of it enough for allowing me to display that tonight.”

Of Wiley’s seven catches on Saturday, none were more impactful than his 81-yard touchdown catch that gave the Horned Frogs their first lead of the game, one they never relinquished.

TCU head coach Sonny Dykes praised Wiley for his toughness throughout the season.

“He has showed a lot of toughness really the last month of the season, just grinding through stuff,” said Dykes, “I can’t say enough about these seniors who played their last game at Amon Carter Stadium.”

It’s the third week in a row that Wiley has set a season-high in receiving yards after doing so against Texas Tech and Texas. TCU quarterback Josh Hoover was perfect when targeting Wiley and spoke about how their connection has grown.

“Jared’s been playing well all year, it’s just you got to get the ball to him,” said Hoover, “He’s a really savvy guy and I think our connections just kind of gotten better over the last couple of weeks of playing together.”

After the game, Wiley spoke about how much this particular game meant to him as a senior.

“I told {the offense] that we need to go out there and play with a lot of emotion,” said Wiley, “Our guys did that tonight and I can’t thank them enough for just sending us seniors out right”

Wiley started his collegiate career at Texas after a high school career at Temple High School which saw him ranked as the No. 31 tight end in the country according to Rivals.

Wiley spent the first three years of his career at Texas before transferring to TCU before the 2022 season. Wiley had 245 yards during TCU’s run to the national championship game and was an All-Big 12 honorable mention.

With one game remaining in his career — Friday at Oklahoma — Wiley has 82 career catches, 974 yards and 13 touchdowns.
