Jane Seymour Is Pitching a Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman Revival

If Jane Seymour has her way, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman will be making rounds again.

The titular star of the circa-’90s CBS procedural is looking to revive the series. In fact, the actress-producer tells The Messenger that the potential sequel series is already “written” and “planned out.”

And although Seymour says one unnamed network recently passed on the project — on account of them not being “interested in Westerns” — she is not giving up on the idea, especially in light of Yellowstone‘s success.

Meanwhile, Seymour notes the idea of doing a modern-day reboot of Dr. Quinn with a different actress in the title role, versus the period revival that she’s pitching, holds little interest for her.

“The whole point of Dr. Quinn is that life hasn’t really changed that much from the 1870s to now,” she maintains. “A lot of the same issues are still issues today, and I think that was what was so magical about it.”

The original Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman aired for six seasons between 1993 and 1998, amassing a total of 149 episodes before CBS gave it the ax. (All six seasons are currently streaming on Amazon’s Freevee, Pluto TV and The Roku Channel.) Seymour later returned for two CBS movies: Dr. Quinn: Revolutions (1999) and Dr. Quinn: The Heart Within (2001), the latter of which served as a proper series finale.

More recently, Seymour reprised her role as “Dr. Mike” in “Dr. Quinn, Medicinal Marijuana Woman,” a 2018 sketch for Jimmy Kimmel Live! And last year, she reunited with Dr. Quinn costar Joe Lando (aka Sully) in the Lifetime holiday movie A Christmas Spark.
