  • Jamie Lee Curtis shared an emotional (and spooky!) video discussing the release of Halloween Ends.

  • She shared the release date, and thanked fans for their 40 years of support for the film franchise.

  • “It has been the honor of my life to play Laurie Strode, and no matter how you watch this final chapter, I hope you’ll get people together and scream and cheer and hold your breath ’til the end,” she said.

Jamie Lee Curtis’ final scenes as Laurie Strode wrapped in February. She told People she “sobbed” on-set while it all sank in. And now that it’s time to promote the culminating Halloween franchise film, Halloween Ends, those wounds are reopening, and emotions are flooding back. In a new clip posted to Instagram, the actress teased the movie and its release date, and tearfully thanked fans for making her time as Strode so incredible.

In the video, which begins in black and white, Curtis walks through an open field while dramatic, ominous music plays. When she emerges from the brush, the black and white filter dissipates and reveals a cheery Curtis in color.

“Hi there. It’s Jamie Lee Curtis,” she begins. “So you all know I’ve played Laurie Strode for more than four decades, and over that time, she has been relentlessly stalked by Michael Myers. Well, all that comes to an end this Halloween, and I’m very proud of our final film, Halloween Ends, and how it brings this saga to a fitting conclusion. And I cannot wait for people to have the chance to see it.”

She goes on to explain that the movie will not only be available in theaters on October 14, but also on Peacock, for viewers to stream at home. (Meanwhile, Myers appears from behind a tree, then disappears again. Curtis pauses to look around, finds nothing, and continues.)

“It has been the honor of my life to play Laurie Strode, and no matter how you watch this final chapter, I hope you’ll get people together and scream and cheer and hold your breath ’til the end,” she said, holding back tears. “Because we created this for you, and I thank you for your years of support and how much you care about this story and me, your final girl. So, I’ll see you soon. Stay safe, and happy Halloween everyone.”

As Curtis walks away, Myers reappears behind her, and the screen goes black and white again.

In the previously mentioned People interview, Curtis teased that the film’s ending, saying it’s “very satisfying.”

“I think people are going to lose their minds,” she said. “I think people will be very satisfied with the movie, and I think they will be very moved.”
