Port City Life Newsletter: It's a jam-packed Wilmington weekend

Welcome to the weekly Port City Life newsletter brought to you by me, StarNews reporter John Staton.

I just got back from a trip to Washington, D.C., with my 12-year-old son last week, and one of the many, many things we did up there was seeing a production of the musical "Little Shop of Horrors" at historic Ford's Theatre. (The one where Lincoln, you know …)

Aside from seeing a show in a historic theater (that's five years younger than Wilmington's Thalian Hall, by the way) that has a solar eclipse as a major plot point on the eve of an actual solar eclipse, what stood out to me was that Wilmington theater compares favorably, very favorably, to productions in a big city like D.C.

The Washington version of "Little Shop" was great, but trust me, the talent up there has nothing on the Port City. That said, let's see what our esteemed Wilmington talent is up to this weekend …

Weekend weather outlook

It's shaping up to be a glorious spring weekend, with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the lower 50s. Thursday's rain and wind should clear out Friday, leaving behind clear skies and mild temps.
