The Philadelphia Eagles are constantly mentioned as a potential landing spot for Deshaun Watson. That doesn’t seem to bother Jalen Hurts though, as the second-year quarterback continues to prove that he’s above all the noise.

Hurts, who faced quarterback competition in college at Alabama and in the pros, knows how to handle pressure. We saw it last year when he took over for Carson Wentz and revitalized an Eagles squad that was lifeless for the majority of the season.

So how is Hurts handling the latest trade speculation surrounding the Eagles? He’s working hard behind the scenes and doing what he can to be the best version of himself.

“What chatter? There’s a lot of chatter that goes on,” Hurts said when asked about the recent trade rumors, via NFL.com. “I’m above it all. I control what I can. I’m here. That’s what I’m doing, going out there and being the quarterback for this team.”

Hurts’ mentality isn’t going to change just because a star quarterback is being linked to the Eagles in trade rumors. He made that abundantly clear during his latest press conference.

“The rent is due every day. I truly mean that, and I have that mentality. For a guy like me, I hold myself accountable to go out there and play at a high level every time I touch the field. There’s not going to be anybody that holds Jalen to a higher standard than Jalen.”

During his rookie season, Hurts had 1,061 passing yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions. He also had 354 yards and three scores on the ground.

Hurts is expected to be the Week 1 starter for the Eagles this fall, but he still has to go out there and win the job in training camp.
