The actress and talk show host has starred in mega-blockbuster hits like the Matrix series Bad Moms and Girls Trip. As an advocate for alopecia awareness, she has also shared her hair journey on her social media platforms through the years. Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss, and it’s estimated that 6.7 million people are affected by the disease in the U.S. alone (and this doesn’t include those with other types of alopecia such as traction alopecia). Even though it’s common, hair loss among female-presenting people was historically so taboo as to be rarely discussed — until Jada led the charge to make it a topic of conversation.
Her talk show, Red Table Talk, which premiered on Facebook Watch in 2018, gives an intergenerational perspective on a wide number of issues. Hosted by Jada, Adrienne, and Jada’s daughter, Willow Smith, the show met with a warm reception, eventually being nominated for the Streamy Awards, the People’s Choice Awards, and the MTV Movie & TV Awards and winning for “Outstanding Informative Talk Show” at the Daytime Emmys in 2021 and for “Outstanding Host in a Talk or News/Information Series or Special” at the NAACP Image Awards.
Now Jada is joining us for Good Housekeeping Live Shopping Week to delve deeply into her new memoir, out October 17. Critics call Worthy a gripping, painfully honest, and touchingly inspirational memoir. She’ll be discussing the media-driven landscape that crafts narratives for celebrities and recounting her story in an intimate conversation with listeners. You can even pick up a signed copy of Worthy!
