Jackson family to compete on 'Family Feud.' Here is how to watch

Question: What local Jackson family is going to be on "Family Feud"? Answer: The Jones family.

The Jones family is one of the latest to compete on the popular game show "Family Feud." Their episode will air at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, on WJTV.

"Family Feud," currently hosted by Steve Harvey, has been airing since 1976. In every episode, two families compete in trivia-style question rounds to compete for a cash prize.

Wendy Jones and four of her five sisters, Sarita, Bridgett, Lonnell and Maria, applied to go on "Family Feud" in the summer of 2021. After rounds of interviews and months of waiting, the Jones sisters flew to Atlanta to film in March 2023.

Jones said her sisters and she were proud to represent Mississippi. All six of them were born and raised in Jackson. Sarita and Bridgett recently moved to Atlanta, but the others still live in Mississippi.

"We're all born and raised from Jackson, Mississippi. That is our home. That's where our hearts are and so that's why we were representing Jackson," Jones said.

One of the most exciting parts of being on the show for the Jones sisters was meeting host Steve Harvey, Jones said. She said he treated them like old friends and knew a lot about Jackson, which was a nice surprise.

"It's just the tip of the iceberg, what you get to see on TV. Imagine what he's saying off-camera. He is hilarious," Jones said.

Another highlight for the sisters was getting the chance to do something together, a difficult task due to their busy schedules.

"Our schedules are so crazy, it's really hard to get us all together. We prayed together and we got to meet (Harvey) together. It's amazing what that brought for us," Jones said.

Jones said the main reason her sisters and she wanted to compete was to win their mom a car. They also planned to use any prize money to take themselves, their oldest sister who did not compete with them on the show and their mom and dad on a family trip.

Viewers will have to tune in at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, on WJTV to see if the Jones sisters will get to gift their mom a car.
