Cincinnati’s third year wideout needs more time before deciding if he’ll play. He wants to give himself as much time before ultimately making the call. Soreness and contact are going to be the deciding factor for him as the week goes on. When asked to further clarify if he’ll be the one making the decision over the training staff, he said it will be up to him. This means he’s medically cleared to play if he feels up to it.

Wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase said Thursday he wants to give his injured shoulder as much time as possible before deciding whether he can play against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

That’s why his return to practice on Thursday was important. He wants to see how his shoulder feels after practicing on Thursday and Friday.

So, how far is Chase away from being 100 percent?

“Good question . . . If I knew I'd be playing,” he said.

Chase said he was trying to protect himself as he fell on his shoulder and Minnesota Vikings linebacker Ivan Pace Jr. jumped on top of his arm causing the injury.

When asked how it felt to be kept to the sidelines of the Bengals’ most recent game against the Steelers, Chase reiterated how much he wants to get back on the field to help his team.

“It’s not fun watching football on the sideline,” Chase said. “I like making plays for the team, helping the guys out. I want to try my best to do that.”

The Bengals will practice on Friday and hold a walk-through on Saturday before flying to Kansas City. It’s likely the team will list him as questionable for his game status.
