Items of missing boater Tyler Doyle found near beach in North Carolina

Several items of missing boater Tyler Doyle have been found near Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina, a Facebook post from his wife said.

Lakelyn Doyle posted late Tuesday that waders, which are waterproof boots or overalls that extend from the foot to the thigh or higher, and photos of what appears to be Doyle’s license was found about two miles east from the area. Searchers are expected to bring helicopters Wednesday to continue the search, Lakelyn Doyle posted.

Greg Lucas, with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, confirmed Wednesday afternoon that “air assets will be up today” from the SCDNR and the Brunswick County, N.C., Sheriff’s Office. In addition, boats from DNR, Brunswick County law enforcement and Horry County Fire Rescue are on the water Wednesday searching from the beach to offshore using sonar scans.

Lucas said that city, county, state and federal agencies are all searching in South Carolina and North Carolina.

Tyler Doyle was reported missing Thursday when his boat reportedly began taking on water and sinking while duck hunting on a 16-foot jon boat in Little River, S.C.

Crews with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, as well as Horry County and North Myrtle Beach agencies, have been searching for the 23-year-old Loris man, who was last seen wearing a camo jacket and khaki pants, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The only other person on the jon boat was rescued from the north jetties, which links the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. Authorities have not identified the second person, nor have they released the details of the accident.

Multiple agencies, including divers, have participated in the search for Doyle, as well as Doyle’s family and friends.

Crews with the U.S. Coast Guard suspended their search Friday and the search was turned over to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.

Over the last week, family took to social media to pay tribute and send prayers for the Doyle family. Doyle’s wife, Lakelyn Doyle, who declined to speak to the Sun News on Friday, has posted daily about her husband and the search to find him.

Air assets will be up today from Brunswick County NC Sheriff’s Office. Brunswick County law enforcement boats and Horry County Fire Rescue boats are on the water searching form the beach out to offshore, using sonar scans.
