Iowa Speedway NASCAR Xfinity, Cup races both sold out nearly three months before race

Chris Buescher was not surprised to hear Wednesday that the June 15 Iowa Speedway NASCAR Xfinity Series race has sold out. The June 16 NASCAR Cup Series race sold out in December.

The track seats 30,000 people.

"That's awesome news; I love that racetrack," Buescher said. "For all the years that we didn't run there on the Cup side since the last time I was there in 2015, I've said, 'Man I wish we could take a Cup car to Iowa.'

"The fans show up there and pack that place. They are passionate about racing. I've seen people show up to support that facility for any style of racing. Even in ARCA racing when we were there they had huge numbers as well."

Iowa is a special place for Buescher, 31. He posted a breakthrough win in 2015 at the Iowa Xfinity race when Buescher held off Chase Elliott, who had led 114 laps.

The Prosper, Texas native said the 7/8-mile distance of Iowa Speedway fits him well.

"It's a short track in ways," Buescher said. "I just feel like it's a fun racetrack, puts on some good shows and our fans enjoy it. I knew the Cup race would sell out and thought the Xfinity race may have already sold out."
