An investigation has been requested for one of college football’s head coaching hires this offseason.

Hawaii’s football program is having quite an offseason. The Rainbow Warriors ousted head coach Todd Graham following some troubling accusations. Graham resigned following his second season with the program following allegations of mistreatment by players.

The program went on to hire former star quarterback Timmy Chang, though many thought they would bring back former coach June Jones.

Now, Hawaii’s hiring process is coming under fire.

A state representative is calling for an investigation into Hawaii’s head coaching hire process.

“I am reaching out to request that you convene a special committee to investigate the recent hiring process that was used to select the UH Football Coach and more specifically the part of the process that involved June Jones,” state representative Bob McDermott wrote. “It is a national embarrassment for our people of Hawaii. The taxpayers who pay all of our salaries deserve some clarity on this fouled-up situation.”

Jones claims that the offer Hawaii made to him is one that no head coach would accept.

We’ll see if anything comes of the investigation into Hawaii’s process.
