Investigation opened into inmate death at Bossier Maximum-Security Facility

An inmate is dead following a medical emergency while incarcerated at Bossier Maximum-Security Facility in Bossier Parish.

Monday morning, Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington released that on March 6, Jerry McCoy, 35, was found unresponsive in his cell.

Medical personnel immediately began performing CPR, but he was unresponsive.

Following his death, an investigation into the cause of death was initiated by Bossier Sheriff's detectives in conjunction with Bossier Parish Coroner's Office.

According to the sheriff's office, they are awaiting toxicology and autopsy results.
