The 2023 season was memorable for many high school football teams and their fans. Here are the Enquirer Fall All-Stars, also known as the all-city teams, for Greater Cincinnati football. The other fall sports selections will be published separately.
Enquirer Fall All-Stars Ohio
Division I
Offensive Player of the Year
Jordan Marshall, Moeller: Marshall was named Ohio Mr. Football after rushing for 1,550 yards and 17 touchdowns this season and had 30 catches for 394 yards and four TDs. He finished with nearly 5,000 rushing yards for his career, breaking the Moeller school record. He signed to play for the University of Michigan Dec. 20.

Defensive Player of the Year
P.J. Nelson, Princeton: The junior linebacker was Ohio Division I Defensive Player of the Year after leading the Vikings in tackles with 89, including 12 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss. He forced five fumbles and recovered two. He had one fumble return touchdown and an interception return for a score. He anchored a Princeton defense that allowed 11 points per game, leading the team to a 12-1 record and its first Greater Miami Conference title since 1998, and first outright league championship since 1993.
Coach of the Year
Tom Grippa, Milford: He led the Eagles to their first 10-0 regular season in school history and first outright league championship since 1986. Milford finished 11-1.

Division II
Offensive Player of the Year
Brodey Berg, Anderson: The senior running back was named the Ohio DII Offensive Co-Player of the Year. Berg was the Eastern Cincinnati Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year after rushing for a league-leading 1,513 yards and 32 touchdowns. He eclipsed the 100-yard mark eight times during the 2023 season and ran for a career-high 239 yards in the Raptors' regional semifinal win over Harrison.
Defensive Player of the Year
Justin Hill, Winton Woods: The junior linebacker was the defensive player of the year in the Southwest District and the Eastern Cincinnati Conference and was first-team all-state. He had 36 tackles including 13 sacks, leading a Warriors defense that allowed less than nine points per game.
Co-Coaches of the Year
Evan Dreyer, Anderson, and Kali Jones, Withrow: Dreyer led the Raptors to the Division II state semifinals and a 13-2 record. Jones’ Tigers played Anderson in the regional final as Withrow enjoyed its best season in history with a 12-2 record.

Division III
Offensive Player of the Year
JayJay Etheridge, Mt. Healthy: The senior caught 64 passes for 1,107 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Owls, who finished 8-3 this season. He was first-team all-state. He signed to play football for Kent State in December.
Defensive Player of the Year
Nate Ostendorf, Badin: The senior linebacker was the district defensive player of the year and first-team all-state after leading the Rams with 145 tackles, six sacks and four tackles for loss. He also forced two fumbles and recovered one. He helped the Rams finish 13-1 this season and reach the regional finals.
Coach of the Year
Nick Yordy, Badin: He led Badin to a 13-1 record and the Division III, Region 12 final and has directed the Rams to 39 consecutive regular-season victories.

Offensive Player of the Year
Armoud Seals, Taft: The senior quarterback threw for 2,722 yards and 28 touchdowns, and rushed for 407 yards and five TDs to lead the Senators to a 12-2 record and the Region 16 final. He was the Division IV district offensive player of the year and first-team all-state.
Defensive Player of the Year
Tayshawn Banks, Taft: The senior was named the Ohio Division IV Defensive Player of the Year. He led the Senators with 143 tackles, 4.5 sacks and nine tackles for loss. He had five interceptions and returned a fumble for a touchdown. He also returned two punts for touchdowns and a kickoff for a score. On offense, he was second on the Senators in receiving yards (532) and TDs (5).
Coach of the Year
Dan McSurley, Clinton-Massie: He led the Falcons to a 12-1 record and the Southern Buckeye-American championship.

Offensive Player of the Year
J.J. Miller, Williamsburg: He was first-team all-state in Division VI after throwing for 3,529 yards and 47 touchdowns, and rushing for 1,060 yards and 13 scores. He led the Wildcats to a 10-2 record and co-championship of the Southern Buckeye-National Division.
Defensive Player of the Year
Jayonn Saunders, Purcell Marian: The junior defensive back was district defensive player of the year and first-team all-state in Division V after intercepting nine passes and finishing fourth on the team with 65 tackles to help the Cavaliers finish 10-3 and win the Miami Valley-Scarlet.
Coach of the Year
Ben Johnson, Waynesville: He was the Ohio Coach of the Year in Division V after leading the Spartans to an 11-3 record and a berth in the Region 20 final.

Enquirer Fall All-Stars Northern Kentucky
Class 1A
Offensive Player of the Year
Demetrick Welch, Newport Central Catholic: The senior ran for 1,125 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also caught 18 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns. Welch opened the KHSAA football season with a bang as he took the opening kickoff in Week 1 for a touchdown. Finally, he was the Class 1A, District 3 Player of the Year.
Defensive Player of the Year
Khalil Buck-Barber, Newport: The senior led Newport with 103 tackles while making three sacks. He also recovered three fumbles and had one interception.
Coach of the Year
John McMillen, Ludlow: He led the Panthers to an 8-5 record and a Class 1A regional final in his first year at the helm.

Clay Hayden, Beechwood: He threw for 3,910 yards, which was second in Class 2A and fourth in the entire state. He also threw for 48 touchdowns on his way to being named the Class 2A, District 5 Player of the Year.
Defensive Player of the Year
Avander Abrams, Lloyd Memorial: Abrams made 46 tackles and led the Juggernauts with 8.5 sacks and three fumble recoveries.
Coach of the Year
Eddie Eviston, Covington Catholic: Eviston guided the Colonels to a 14-1 record and a state championship appearance in their first year in Class 4A. He was the Class 4A, Division 5 Coach of the Year and won his 100th game at CovCath this season.

Offensive Player of the Year
Brody Benke, Highlands: Benke was a do-it-all player this year on the way to earning Class 5A, District 6 Player of the Year honors. He threw for 1,849 yards, ran for 1,176 yards, and caught 14 passes for 208 yards. The senior accounted for 55 total touchdowns in 14 games.
Defensive Player of the Year
Brach Rice, Dixie Heights: Rice led Class 5A in tackles with 181 and was second in sacks with 13. The senior also caused two fumbles and made two fumble recoveries.
Coach of the Year
Randy Borchers, Cooper: Borchers has been the only head coach at Cooper since the school opened in 2008. This season, he coached the Jaguars to a 12-3 record and their second state championship appearance. The Jaguars had the eighth-highest scoring average in Class 5A, putting up 34.8 points per game.

Offensive Player of the Year
Logan Verax, Ryle: Verax broke the school record for career passing yards and eclipsed 6,000 yards for his career. As a senior, he threw for 3,279 yards and 29 touchdowns. He also led the team in rushing, going for 456 yards and seven touchdowns.
Defensive Player of the Year
Aba Selm, Simon Kenton: Selm is a gifted two-way player who will make waves in the SEC at the University of Kentucky. In his senior season, he made 53 tackles and tallied a team-high 15 sacks. Selm was named the Class 6A, District 6 Player of the Year.
Coach of the Year
Mike Engler, Ryle: Engler guided the Raiders to an 8-5 record and was named the Class 6A, District 6 Coach of the Year. Sitting at 2-5 midway through the season, Engler inspired the Raiders to put together a five-game winning streak to reach the regional final.

Offensive Player of the Year
Josh Ringer, East Central: Ringer was the driving force behind the Trojans' second-straight state championship. The Indiana Mr. Football honoree ran for 2,880 yards and 55 touchdowns while catching 13 passes for 278 yards and five touchdowns. He ran for multiple touchdowns in every game and had at least 117 rushing yards every Friday night he took the field.
Defensive Player of the Year
Brayden Rouse, East Central: Rouse was the Trojans' leader on defense. He led the team with 103 total tackles and was second in sacks with 4.5. In the turnover department, he grabbed two interceptions and forced two fumbles.
Coach of the Year
Jake Meiners, East Central: He led the Trojans to their second straight undefeated season and the fourth state championship in school history. It was a dominant showing, too. East Central averaged 416 yards per game, almost 200 yards better than the national average. The Trojans allowed their opponents to score more than 10 points just three times, winning by an average score of 49-6.
