Instagram influener Alexis Sharkey looked like she ‘just got out of the tub’ when her body was found in Houston
The body of Instagram influencer Alexis Sharkey was naked and clean when it was found in some brush along a Texas highway last month.
John Richardson, a solid waste department supervisor who found 26-year-old Sharkey, told KTRK he is still haunted by the gruesome discovery nearly a month later.
“It plays back in my head every day. I constantly see her lying there. It plays back in my head,” he said. “It’s like she just got out of the tub. Her body was clean. There was nothing on her body. Her body was clean.”
Richardson found Sharkey’s body on Nov. 28 after an employee phoned in to report that he’d seen what he thought was either a mannequin or person on the side of a Houston roadway.
“He really didn’t know because he didn’t stop,” he recalled.
Richardson said he spotted the Instagrammer’s feet sticking out into the road before he and a coworker reached the spot. He noted that she was curled up into a fetal position.
“Man, I’m just devastated. I’m looking at a human being lying there dead. It kind of shook me up a bit. We can’t help her. We can’t bring her back,”he told the news station, adding it looked as though someone had carefully placed her by the highway.
“I think somebody actually laid her there. They didn’t just throw her out.”
According to online records from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, cause and manner of death in the case are still pending. Houston police in a previous press release said there were “no visible wounds” on the body when it was found.
A spokesperson with HPD told ABC13 today their homicide detectives consider this an active and ongoing investigation.
